BYU is back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2011, a major milestone for the program.
The last time they made it this far, Jimmer Fredette took March Madness by storm with his shooting ability. Fredette averaged 28.9 points per game while shooting 39.6 percent from three-point range that season in what was arguably the pest season in BYU basketball history.
After leaving college, Fredette tried to translate his success to the NBA, but he was unable to replicate what he did in college. However, he did end up in the Chinese Basketball Association, where he played at a high level for a few years.

The following season, Fredette joined Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League, but that season ended early due to the COVID pandemic. In the 2020-21 season, Fredette returned to the Shanghai Sharks for his final professional basketball season.
