Jakobi Meyers may or may not be traded.
But if the Las Vegas Raiders end up honoring Meyers’ desire to be moved rather than giving him a new contract, the New York Jets could be in play as a destination.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini made the suggestion in a new article out Sunday. Why? There’s a key connection.
“Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner, a Raiders assistant the previous two seasons, spoke glowingly of Meyers last December: ‘I tell people all the time, he’s one of my favorite players that I’ve ever coached,'” Cimini wrote.

Meyers is due to make $10.76 million this season in the final year of his current contract.
The 28-year old wide receiver has done very well for himself already in his NFL career. He went to North Carolina State as a quarterback, and he was undrafted out of college.
Meyers stuck with the New England Patriots and made an impact right from the start.
He has spent the past two seasons with the Raiders.

Meyers is coming off his best NFL season, catching 87 passes for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games played despite working with some mediocre QBs.
The Raiders have Geno Smith now, a better quarterback situation for Meyers. If he came to the Jets, it’d be to play with run-happy QB Justin Fields.
It seems like Meyers would probably be most happy in the place that would land him a lucrative contract extension.
The Jets may have enough positivity about Meyers in their own building to consider making a move.
