New York Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson took to X on Thursday with the claim that he was scammed out of about $60,000.
Johnson revealed he employed a company called “Court Dreams” to do some work for him, but the job was never completed and he has not received a refund.
“Beware of this man and this company,” Johnson wrote on the social media platform. “He has stolen roughly $60K of my money by not completing a job I regretfully paid full price for before completion.
“He’s been giving me the runaround for over a year now when I ask about either a refund or just for the work to be completed. I had recommendations from friends and other celebrities that used him which is why I felt comfortable paying upfront. Lesson learned by me but this guy will steal your money [shake my head],” he concluded.
Johnson didn’t say exactly what work was supposed to be done, but the company’s Instagram profile lists custom courts, turf and pools as some of the work it does, while also calling itself the “#1 Sports Construction Firm.”
“This guy and company basically scammed me so I want to warn everyone,” Johnson added. “Can’t find the company’s Twitter so I can’t @ them directly. Do y’all’s thing.”
Well, it didn’t take long for Jets fans to find the guy and the company. The Instagram profile we linked to earlier has since been made private.
A former first-round pick of the Jets in 2022, Johnson had a breakout campaign in 2023 with 7.5 sacks before seeing his 2024 season cut short due to a torn Achilles.
Johnson has been working off to the side at Jets OTAs early on as he continues to rehab from his injury and the hope is that he’ll be a full-go by training camp.
New York decided to pick up Johnson’s fifth-year option this offseason, which keeps him under contract through the 2026 season.
