The Lions’ season started to seem like a dream season when they overcame Jared Goff’s five interceptions against the Texans in November. It’s fair to say five INTs likely won’t get it done in the playoffs.
Goff threw two first-half interceptions against the Commanders on Saturday night, including one that was returned for a touchdown by Washington’s Quan Martin. After so much dominance during the regular season, the Lions found themselves in unfamiliar territory entering the second half, trailing by double-digits.
Goff only threw seven regular season interceptions outside of his dud against the Texans, but the Lions can ill afford another turnover-happy night with their season on the line.
Here’s a look at Goff’s interceptions from Saturday night’s divisional-round game against the Commanders.

Goff sailed a downfield pass too high on second down, and it landed in the waiting arms of safety Quan Martin. After a stellar return, Martin ended up in the end zone to push Washington’s lead to 10.
Goff was hit hard during Martin’s return and had to come out of the game for the Lions’ next drive, but he returned before the end of the half.

The Lions were positioned to at least trim the Commanders’ lead to one possession before halftime when Goff was picked off in the end zone by rookie Mike Sainristill.
Goff stepped into the throw and nearly found Jameson Williams in stride, but Sainristill stayed right there with Williams and prevented the ball from ever reaching him.

While the result was likely baked in by this point, the night — and the Lions’ season — ended appropriately when Goff threw his third interception of the game to Jeremy Chinn.
