Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz live score, results, highlights: Champion and top seed clash in French Open final

Reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz faced world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a mouthwatering men’s French Open singles final.

The top two players in the world have seven Grand Slam titles between them. This is the first time they will meet in a major final but it feels hugely unlikely it will be the last.

Alcaraz was two sets up in his semifinal when Sinner’s Italian compatriot Lorenzo Musetti withdrew through injury.

Sinner, who recently returned from a three-month ban handed down by the World Anti-Doping Agency, produced a dominant straight sets win over the great Novak Djokovic to book his place in the Roland-Garros showpiece.

The Sporting News is following Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz live, providing highlights and game-by-game updates.

Jannik Sinner vs. Carlos Alcaraz live updates, highlights from Roland-Garros 2025 French Open men’s tennis singles final

2:00 p.m. CET/ 8:00 a.m ET: Before the first Grand Slam final instalment of what promises to be a generation-defining rivalry, we should address the elephant in the room. Between February 9 and May 4 this year – essentially filling most of the gap between his triumph at the Australian Open and the start of the French Open on May 19 – Sinner served a three-month ban handed down by the World Anti-Doping Agency in relation to a 2024 positive test for clostebol. This came as the result of a settlement between Sinner and WADA, which had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s (ITIA) decision not to ban the Italian.

Sinner denied any intentional wrongdoing after explaining the substance had been applied inadvertently by physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who had been using a product containing clostebol to treat a cut on his own hand. WADA accepted that Sinner did not intend to cheat and derived no performance-enhancing benefit.
