Liverpool are in a tight title race, but Jamie Carragher believes the best is yet to come.
The Reds sit eight points ahead of Arsenal, though the Gunners have a game in hand. With crucial fixtures ahead, including a clash with Manchester City, every point matters.
The Premier League title battle is heating up, but Carragher insists that regardless of this season’s outcome, both Liverpool and Arsenal will be much stronger next year.
The former Liverpool defender also predicts that the Reds will spend big this summer, even if key stars like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold sign new deals.

Carragher names area Liverpool should strengthen in summer
Writing in The Telegraph, Carragher analyzed Liverpool’s squad and the areas needing improvement.
He pointed out their strong expected goal difference, suggesting they are more balanced than Arsenal. However, recent defensive struggles have raised concerns.
“Liverpool should have beaten Everton and Aston Villa,” Carragher wrote. “The goals they conceded were preventable. Those are the type of games where title-winning teams find a way to win.”
He added, “Even if Liverpool do win the league, it would still be surprising if they didn’t significantly invest this summer. The squad needs three or four first-team-ready players.”
Carragher believes that both Liverpool and Arsenal will reflect on the season and question whether they did enough in the transfer market.
“Whoever falls short will wonder if they could have done more in the summer and January windows.”
Carragher has been vocal about Liverpool’s defensive weaknesses.
“I’ve been banging the drum about the need for defensive reinforcement and wish they had a full-back like Jurrien Timber. The injuries to Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley have left Liverpool short at the back,” he explained.
Carragher on what Arsenal need in squad
He also praised Arsenal’s squad but suggested they lack attacking firepower.
“How Arteta must wish he had someone like Cody Gakpo. His 16 goals this season have gone under the radar.”
As Liverpool heads into a crucial summer, the club’s recruitment strategy could define their future success.
