Jalen Milroe was a polarizing figure in college, as the former Alabama quarterback showed high-end talent but lacked consistency with the Crimson Tide.
The Seahawks took Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft, hoping they can develop him behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock on the depth chart. On Thursday night, Milroe got his first NFL action in a preseason game against the Raiders.
While Seattle and Las Vegas tied the game, Milroe was able to show some of what makes him a high-upside prospect with both his arms and his legs. Here’s a breakdown of how Milroe performed in his NFL debut.

Grading Jalen Milroe’s rookie debut
Grade: B
Milroe had a respectable showing in his first NFL action, showing off both his passing and his rushing abilities. The former Alabama quarterback relieved Drew Lock in the second half and played five drives, as he led the team to one touchdown in his time on the field.
Milroe finished the game for Seattle, getting important reps against the Raiders’ backups. Milroe didn’t score a touchdown himself, but he was able to avoid turning the ball over during his debut.

- Passing yards: 61
- Rushing attempts: 3

Milroe produced an efficient 60 percent completion percentage in his limited action, producing 6.1 yards per attempt through the air. He also made some plays on the ground, totaling 38 rushing yards on three attempts in his action.
However, Milroe was unable to score his first touchdown of his NFL career, as the lone touchdown that Seattle scored with Milroe on the field was a Jacardia Wright rushing touchdown. Of the other four drives, three ended in punts and one ended in a turnover-on-downs.
