Veteran wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is making an early case to receive another contract from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Meyers, who is set to enter unrestricted free agency in 2026, is standing out at training camp and showcasing why he has the tools to be one of the better receivers in football.
According to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com, Meyers was frequently making contested catches at practice on Thursday and also displayed his versatility to play in the slot and on the boundary.
“Jakobi Meyers stole the show by routinely making contested catches throughout practice. A few of his catches were honestly perfect placement from Geno Smith, but creating separation wasn’t an issue for Meyers either,” Edwards wrote.
“Another key observation is where No. 16 lined up. With the Raiders adding rookie 6-foot-5 wideout Dont’e Thornton Jr., Chip Kelly is getting comfortable using Meyers more in the slot, which is where he mostly lined up during his tenure with the New England Patriots,” Edwards added.
Meyers signed a three-year deal with the Raiders during the 2023 offseason, and despite dealing with subpar quarterback play, the 28-year-old has been productive since joining the team.
In 2023, Meyers hauled in 71 receptions for 807 yards and eight touchdowns. However, he posted a career year in 2024 with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns.
If Meyers continues to impress in camp and has another impactful season in 2025, Las Vegas would be foolish not to sign him to a new contract.
Spotrac currently has Meyers’ market value at $17.4 million annually, but the NC State product is definitely worth more than that. Meyers should be able to cash in on a deal worth around $25 to $30 million annually if he posts a productive 2025 campaign.
