Jake Paul wants to fight for gold. He believes he has a legitimate path to being a contender with a win against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28. The fight in California airs on DAZN.
The fight is the first for Paul (11-1) since facing Mike Tyson in November. “The Problem Child” has caused a stir in the boxing world due to his personality, among other things. If he wins, Paul will be ranked at the cruiserweight level.
Chavez (54-6-1) is a former middleweight champion in 2011. The 39-year-old last fought in July, his first fight in three years. He recently participated in a residential treatment program after being arrested on felony gun possession charges. The son of a legend is now focused on reviving his career.
The co-main event will see Gilberto Ramirez defend the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles against Yuniel Dorticos.
Ramirez (47-1) dominated the super middleweight division for years. “Zurdo” lost against Dmitry Bivol for light heavyweight gold. He has since moved to cruiserweight and won the WBA and WBO belts.
Dorticos (27-2) is a former WBA and IBF cruiserweight champion. The Cuban is on a three-fight win streak but has fought once since 2022.
Also on the card, highly touted Floyd Schofield (18-0) faces former champion Tevin Farmer (33-8-1). Meanwhile, former boxing and UFC champion Holly Holm (33-2-3 boxing | 15-7, 1 NC MMA) returns to the ring for the first time since 2013 to face Yolanda Vega (10-0).
