Jai Opetaia looks to turn back another challenger to his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight titles, this time in the form of undefeated Kiwi David Nyika.
Opetaia, now 26-0, returns to the Gold Coast Convention Centre for the first time since defeating Mairis Briedis to become world champion two-and-a-half years ago.
Since then, he’s established himself as the man to beat in the division, while Tokyo Olympic bronze medal winner Nyika has moved to 10-0 as a professional.

Teremoana Junior blasts out another opponent
Olympian Teremoana Junior moved to 6-0 with six knockouts when he took care of Otobo less than a minute into the first round.
The skill and power difference was clear from the outset and a single left hook was all it took to put Otobo down, from which he couldn’t beat the count.
Shauna Browne claims split decision over Taylah Gentzen
(97-92, 96-95, 94-95)
Ireland’s Browne remained undefeated with a split decision victory over the previously unbeaten Gentzen.
Browne scored a knockdown in the seventh round to put an exclamation point on the performance.
Billy McAllister stops Jordan Towns in two
McAllister improved to 3-0 with an impressive second round stoppage of Jordan Towns, dropping him twice in the period.
Towns answered the count after the second knockdown but his corner threw in the towel.
Runqi Zhou outpoints Tony Ingram
(77-75, 78-74 x2)
China’s Runqi Zhou scored a hard-fought unanimous points victory over the previously undefeated Tony Ingram.
After eight rounds of fast-paced action, Zhou’s relentless offence proved the difference on the judges’ cards.
Albert Tu’ua and Kodi Shallali can’t be split
(37-37 x2, 38-37 Tu’ua)
They came in with just four professional fights between them but Muay Thai convert Tu’ua and Shallali put on quite a show.
Tu’ua dominated the early stages of the bout but the tables were turned when he touched the canvas twice in the third round.
He recovered well, though, and put it on Shallali in the final round but couldn’t get him out of there.
Jag Guthmann-Chester defeats Jai Williams
(30-26 x3)
A pair of jockeys opened the card, going at it over three rounds in a Magic Millions week scrap.
Guthmann-Chester showed some solid fundamentals and even dropped Williams in the third to take out a comfortable unanimous decision.
His fellow hoops might think twice before starting something with him in the jockeys’ room in future.
