Jai Opetaia (26-0) looks to further establish himself as the top dog at 200-pounds when he faces David Nyika (10-0) in a trans-Tasman world title showdown.
Going down at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Wednesday, January 8, Opetaia will be attempting to defend his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight world titles against the undefeated New Zealander.
Both men know each other’s games well – Nyika now lives in south-east Queensland, just up the road from Opetaia and they’ve shared plenty of sparring rounds together.

The action is due to go down on Wednesday, January 8.
Opetaia was last in the ring in October, stopping Jack Massey inside six rounds, while Nyika defeated Tommy Karpency via third-round TKO back in September.
Headlining a 12-fight card, the first bout of the evening is due to get underway at 5pm AEST / 6pm AEDT, with the live broadcast beginning at 6pm AEST / 7pm AEDT.
Expect Opetaia and Nyika in the ring for the main event some time after 10pm AEST / 11pm AEDT.

The fight card will be broadcast live globally on streaming platform DAZN.
