Jaguars’ RB Bhayshul Tuten has clear role in Week 2 depth chart for Jacksonville after Tank Bigsby trade

There’s a lot of interest this week in a Jacksonville Jaguars backup running back, which isn’t a particularly normal occurrence.

But this is fourth-round rookie Bhayshul Tuten, and he’s got a lot of fans. And after Tank Bigsby was traded away to the Philadelphia Eagles, the question becomes: How will Tuten benefit?

First things first, it’s probably best to slow your roll just a bit.

Travis Etienne led the Jags with 36 snaps in Week 1 and got 16 carries and three catches. When he’s in the game, the Jags are using him like the clear RB1.

Etienne only played on three third downs, but that’s LeQuint Allen’s role. The seventh-round rookie out of Syracuse played nine snaps, eight of them on third downs, all of which were third-and-3 or longer, per Adam Levitan.

Tuten played just four snaps, but that was with Bigsby.

Tank was out there for 12 snaps and got five carries. He was essentially the early-downs RB2 behind Bigsby.

It’s safe to expect Tuten to move into Bigsby’s role. So that’ll be something like 16 combined snaps between the two of them, and maybe five or six carries.

Tuten is explosive, and he likely is now just one injury away from the starting running back job in Jacksonville.

But while Etienne is healthy, Tuten is just a hold and a handcuff, not a player you can consider starting in fantasy football.

For the casual Jags fan, it’s just a good chance to see a bit more of the exciting rookie in action now that there’s one less backfield mouth to feed.
