Jac Caglianone hits first career MLB home run

It was the first of his career. It will not be the last. Twenty-two-year-old Jac Caglianone went deep for the first time in his MLB career. With the Royals already leading 2–0 following a Vinnie Pasquantino two-run home run in the first inning, Caglianone followed suit with a solo shot in the second.

The home run was to center field off Texas hurler Jacob Latz. Latz, a left-hander out of Kent State, was making his 16th appearance of the season.

It was also quite the hack, as the rookie took a high pitch, and took it over the wall to right field, 387 feet off the bat, and an exit velo of 106.5.

The left-hander out of Tampa, Florida, came to the big leagues on June 3. Heading into Thursday’s game, Caglianone was 10-for-51 on the season, a slow start at .196. He had driven in just two runs.

His best game came on June 8, when he picked up four hits in a 7–5 win on the road against the Chicago White Sox.

The former Florida Gators star was the sixth overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. When he signed with Kansas City, he inked a $7.21 million signing bonus. He started the 2025 season with Northwest Arkansas in Double-A. In May, he moved to Omaha, the Triple-A team. He wasn’t there long before making his way to Kansas City.

Caglianone and the Royals will remain on the road this weekend as they begin a three-game series in San Diego on Friday.
