It’s April 1, which means jokesters all over the country are participating in April Fools’ Day.
This year, Tiger Woods decided to take part in the day by joking that his torn Achilles was healed after less than a month of rehab, allowing him to play in The Masters next week. Woods claimed that “sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber” along with “explosive lifts” was enough to do the impossible and fix his Achilles.
I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.

However, six minutes later, Woods admitted that it was an April Fools’ joke and that his Achilles is “still a mess.”
P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess 🙂 https://t.co/H1Y1AOgn2v

Woods first tore his Achilles in early March, and he had surgery on it on March 11. He has only just started rehab, making it virtually impossible for him to get to a point where he can play in The Masters.

Woods last played golf for Jupiter Links in TGL’s inaugural season, which concluded at the end of March. The veteran golfer’s last tournament was with his son, Charlie, in December’s PNC Championship.
Is Tiger Woods playing in the Masters?
Woods is not playing in The Masters this year.
The veteran golfer had surgery on his torn left Achilles last month, which will keep him out for this year’s majors season. Woods has participated in four of the last six Masters tournament, but instead, he will miss the tournament for the fifth time in his career.
Tiger Woods Achilles recovery timeline
Woods’ timeline for return is a little unclear, but he will surely miss the rest of this PGA Tour season, including all four majors in 2025. The earliest Woods can return is likely early next year, when TGL season 2 kicks off or ahead of the 2026 Masters next April.
A typical Achilles return timeline for athletes is around a year, but Woods’ situation is different than most. On the one hand, he is set to turn 50 in December, so his rehab will be rigorous as an older athlete. On the other hand, however, golf doesn’t require the sudden movement that other sports do, which could allow him to return sooner than expected.
