The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season began on Sunday with the Cook Out Clash, an exhibition race held at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Chase Elliott led 171 of 200 laps on his way to victory, marking the first Clash win of his career. Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin challenged Elliott at the season-opening race, but Elliott was able to hold them off down the stretch.
“Had a tough race. Ryan kept me honest there at the end,” Elliott told Fox’s Jamie Little. “Denny was really good there at the second half of that break. … I was afraid to lose control of the race and not be able to get it back. Fortunately, it worked out.”
Now, drivers will turn their attention toward the Daytona 500, which will officially launch the 2025 campaign.
