Is Tee Higgins playing this week? Latest injury news, updates on Bengals WR for Week 17 vs. Broncos

With the Bengals desperately hanging onto their slim chances at making the playoffs, the team needs as many healthy stars as possible. That includes wide receiver Tee Higgins.

The Cincinnati offensive weapon could potentially miss the pivotal Week 17 contest on Saturday. Higgins picked up injuries to his ankle and knee in the Week 16 win over the Browns.

At 7-8, the Bengals aren’t out of the postseason yet. However, Zac Taylor’s crew needs to win its last two games, starting with a crucial matchup on Saturday against the Broncos (who are currently in the third and final wild-card spot in the AFC). Even then, Cincinnati has to get help from other teams in order to sneak into the postseason.

Will Higgins play in Week 17? Here is the latest on his status ahead of Saturday’s game.

Is Tee Higgins playing this week?

Higgins is officially listed as questionable to return in Week 17 on Cincinnati’s injury report. He was a limited participant in practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday due to his ankle and knee injuries.

The wide receiver has battled injuries throughout the season. He was on the injury report ahead of the Week 16 game against Cleveland, but he did not carry a designation into last week’s game. He was injured during the third quarter of the contest, but after he was checked by trainers on the sideline, he was able to return to the game.

Bengals WR depth chart

Rank Name
No. 1 Ja’Marr Chase
No. 2 Tee Higgins (Q)
No. 3 Andre Iosivas
No. 4 Jermaine Burton
No. 5 Charlie Jones
No. 6 Isaiah Williams

Ja’Marr Chase is the clear WR1 in Cincinnati. He and QB Joe Burrow have displayed incredible chemistry dating back to their days together in college at LSU. Chase is regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the sport.

When healthy, Higgins is the clear second option at wide receiver. He has been an excellent weapon for the Bengals to deploy opposite Chase. However, if he is unable to go against the Broncos, then Andre Iosivas is anticipated to see an uptick in targets. And tight end Mike Gesicki has also seen a spike in usage when Higgins sits.
