With the NBA season a little more than a month away, many people are gearing towards another fantasy basketball season. One player who fantasy owners will want to draft early in drafts is San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama is entering his third NBA season with the Spurs, and he is only 21 years old. Some already view him as a top 10 player in the league, and he could be in the top five sooner rather than later. Is the Spurs superstar center already a top five fantasy basketball player as the 2025-26 season approaches?

Alex Barutha, Kirien Sprecher, Ryan Ward, and Nick Wahlen of rotowire.com contributed to an article on NBA.com about the top 150 fantasy basketball players for the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season. It is not a surprise that Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is number one on this list and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is number two on this list.
What comes as a major surprise is that Wembanyama is number three on the fantasy basketball list over players like Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. They said about the Spurs center being ranked number three on this list,
“He may already be the best defensive player in the NBA, and he continues to expand his offensive arsenal. Nobody in the league has a higher long-term ceiling.”
One of the things that Wembanyama has done well over the first two seasons of his NBA career is blocking shots. That is one of the main categories in fantasy basketball along with points, rebounds, assists, and steals.
In 46 games during the 2024-25 NBA season, he averaged 24.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 3.7 APG, 3.8 BPG, and 1.1 SPG. Wembanyama also shot 47.6% from the field. It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers he is going to put up during his third NBA season. Wembanyama is going to be the number one player on the Spurs. He has a chance to put up dominant numbers on both ends of the floor if he can stay healthy this season.
