Is Peter Schrager leaving Fox?

Schrager confirmed the rumors on Monday, March 31, addressing them during the latest episode of “Good Morning Football.”

“The rumors are true,” Schrager began. “Today is my last day on ‘Good Morning Football.’ I end with great feelings, we’re going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show. It’s all good. But this will be the last episode I’ll be on this program.”

On Friday, March 28,  Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports first reported that Schrager is “in serious talks” to leave Fox and GMFB for ESPN. The Athletic media reporter, Andrew Marchand, further reported that Shrager’s move to ESPN is officially in the works:

Peter Schrager, the NFL insider and TV personality, is leaving Fox Sports and NFL Network with ESPN the leading candidate to be his next destination, sources briefed on the move told The Athletic.

Schrager has no signed contract yet with ESPN. If the deal is finalized, Schrager is expected to be on the network’s daily, including “NFL Live,” “Get Up,” “First Take” and other studio programming. ESPN is gearing up for its initial Super Bowl in February 2027. Schrager would likely have a role in draft coverage.

In addition to his role with Fox, Schrager had also been a part of NFL Network’s “GMFB” show since its iteration in 2016. Last year, the show moved its entire production away from its New York Studios to Los Angeles, where the network is headquartered. Although host Jamie Erdhal moved full-time to Los Angeles, hosts Kyle Brandt and Schrager were both commuting back and forth between the two cities, oftentimes appearing remotely from New York to do the show.

“We’re going to be taking the show elsewhere,” Schrager said of the show’s move from New York last March. And we’ll see what happens. But I just wanted to appreciate my time in New York and the crew and the people. A lot of those folks won’t be making the trip. But we do love them and that they are a part of the story in the show and it’s fabric.”

Schrager added that it was “not the last that you’ll see me be talking football or the last that we’ll be talking football together. It’s just the end of an era.”

Schrager, who is based out of New York, would be able to contribute to ESPN from their Seaport studios in the city.
