Marcus Rashford reminded football fans in England of his enduring quality when Barcelona beat Newcastle United on September 18.
The Three Lions forward scored his first goals for the club in a 2-1 UEFA Champions League victory at St. James’ Park, burying a superb header before finding the top corner with a spectacular strike from the edge of the box.
It was the sort of performance that Rashford had failed to deliver on those shores for much of the past two years. After a career-best campaign in 2022/23, he struggled badly to find form before he was eventually banished from first-team consideration at Manchester United by head coach Ruben Amorim.

Yes, Rashford is on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United. The terms are for an initial 12 months in Catalonia.
However, Barca reportedly have a buy option included in the deal, meaning they can sign the forward outright if they pay a fee of €35 million (£30.3m / $41.3m) to United during the year-long loan, according to figures published by BBC Sport.
Barca are said to be covering Rashford’s wages during his time in La Liga, meaning United are set to save in the region of £15m ($20.3m) over the coming year.
Rashford previously spent half the 2024/25 season on loan at Aston Villa, who reportedly had a similar buy option on the England star, but they elected not to sign him.

Can Man United recall Rashford from Barcelona?
Neither club confirmed whether there is an option to cut the loan deal short, either if United wanted to recall him or if Barca wished to terminate the arrangement.
However, it is believed that there is not any such agreement between the clubs, according to a report by The Sun.
