
Katherine Legge will become the first female driver to race in a NASCAR Cup Series race since 2018 when she competes in the 2025 Shriner’s Children’s 500 on Saturday. Legge was born in England, and the 44-year-old has competed in five NASCAR Xfinity Series races in her career.
She began her racing career in the United Kingdom around the year 2000 when she was 20. Legge initially competed in Formula Three, Formula Renault, and Formula Ford, which are all developmental series. She was the first woman to receive the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star accolade.
Legge has been racing off and on for the past two decades. She has competed in the ARCA Menards Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, Champ Car, Formula E, and IndyCar Series. Legge will debut in the Cup Series in 2025, becoming the Series’ first female driver since Danica Patrick.

Legge was briefly engaged to fellow driver Peter Terting, but the couple eventually split. All public knowledge is that Legge is not married or in a relationship, but she could be doing her best to keep her private life as private as possible.
Who is Peter Terting?
Terting a German race car driver. Legge has had the more illustrious career, but the pair likely met while she was competing in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. Terting competed in 2003, but Legge competed from 2008-10.
Between all of his Series races, he has competed five times, but four of them came between 2003-07. Terting’s last professional race was part of the TCR Europe Series and was the Target Competition in 2018.
