Entering the NFL draft, Ole Miss linebacker Chris Paul Jr. has a chance to be a solid day two pick, which would make him the second Chris Paul in professional sports.

After playing his first three college seasons at Arkansas, Paul Jr. transferred to Ole Miss, where he led the Rebels in tackles.

Of course, Chris Paul the basketball player has been a star for the past two decades while playing for the New Orleans Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, Suns, Warriors and Spurs. Additionally, Paul does have a son named Chris Paul Jr., which could get confusing.

That doesn’t mean the NBA’s Chris Paul and the future NFL player Chris Paul Jr. are related. Here’s what you need to know about the two.

Is Chris Paul Jr. related to Chris Paul?

Chris Paul Jr., the former Ole Miss linebacker, has no relation to Chris Paul, the 39-year-old Spurs point guard. 

Paul Jr. was born in 2002, while Paul, the future basketball star, was still in high school and before the latter started his college career at Wake Forest. Although the Spurs point guard did name his son Chris Paul Jr., that would be a different Chris Paul Jr.

Paul Jr.’s father is a different Chris Paul Sr., who was a veteran in the United States Navy, and his mother is Valieka Paul, not Jada Paul.

Paul, the point guard, met his future wife, Jada, in high school but the two didn’t have children until 2009. Paul’s son and oldest child is also named Chris Paul Jr., he’s just a different Chris Paul Jr. than the one who played college football at Arkansas and Ole Miss.

Paul also has a daughter named Camryn who was born in 2012.
