Is Anthony Davis playing tonight vs Nets?

Davis is expected to play in Dallas’ road duel against Brooklyn on Monday night, per NBA insider Marc Stein. He had previously been listed as questionable for the matchup, with his health trending in a positive direction over the past few days.

Monday’s questionable designation represented the first time Davis had received such an availability distinction since going down with an adductor injury during his Mavericks debut on Saturday, Feb. 8. Davis has not played since and has only played 31 minutes in a Mavs uniform.

With 11 games remaining in the regular season, the Mavericks are 34-37 and sit at 11th in the Western Conference. The top 10 teams in the conference advance to the postseason, with teams seeded 7 through 10 playing in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament.

Dallas has the same record as Phoenix but the Mavericks are currently on the outside looking in by a tiebreaker.

What is Anthony Davis’ injury?

Davis’ injury is a left adductor strain. Before that injury, Davis was recovering from an abdominal muscle strain that occurred in his final game with the Lakers. He suffered the injury after getting out to a roaring start in his first-ever game in a Mavs uniform.

Late in the third quarter, Davis attempted to recover after hedging on a ball screen but doubled over in pain and fell to the floor after a non-contact injury.

Here’s how it happened:

An adductor strain is a muscle injury located on the inner thigh, which for Davis is in his left leg. When he first suffered the injury, Davis said he felt a spasm in his leg but thought it was related to his previous abdomen injury.
