Inter Miami have finally announced the much-awaited contract renewal of Lionel Messi.
This exciting announcement comes just one day prior to the Herons’ playoff opener against Nashville.
Messi-led Inter Miami, who are the No. 3 seed in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference, will host Game 1 of the best-of-three series on Friday.
With his previous contract set to expire at the end of this year, Messi’s future at Inter Miami was the talk of the town.
Despite several assurances by club authorities of the Argentine icon’s extended stay at the MLS club, fans anxiously awaited an official confirmation of seeing Messi at Inter Miami’s new stadium next year.
Inter Miami made the announcement in a social media post that featured Messi signing the contract inside the new stadium, which remains under construction, with the caption, “HE’S HOME.”

Messi arrived at Inter Miami following his two-year tenure at Paris Saint-Germain, and the rest has been history.
The 2022 World Cup winner has broken and made several records in just over two years of his arrival at the MLS, with more expected to come with his three years of extended stay at Inter Miami.
Messi’s contract extension with Inter Miami also brings further hope to his fans of seeing the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner grace the pitch for Argentina in the upcoming World Cup next year, set to be hosted in North America.
With his new contract at the Herons and having already won the 2023 Leagues Cup and the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, Messi could lead Inter Miami to their first-ever MLS Cup title in the club’s history.
