Something that should worry Dallas Cowboys fans about their team’s defense occurred during Sunday’s practice. Injury concern arose when defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey was seen walking slowly off the field and heading inside for further evaluation.
The Athletic’s Jon Machota tweeted: “Cowboys DT Perrion Winfrey appeared to suffer an injury during the portion of today’s practice open to reporters. Walking very slowly inside for further evaluation.”

Winfrey made headlines recently after securing a spot on the team’s 53-man roster. Though he was widely expected to be cut, his addition came as a surprise to fans and the player himself.
On Thursday, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Winfrey after witnessing his emotional reaction to making the team’s roster.
“The emotion of it, seeing Perrion react like that, showed me two things: the passion he has for this game and the pain he’s had to go through of having it taken away from him, and not knowing if this would work out or not,” Schottenheimer said.
“I told him, ‘The reason we wanted to do it is because we wanted to see your reaction. We figured you’d react this [way].’ He did not disappoint. He’s a special young man. … who deserves this opportunity, and has earned it.”
Winfrey, Schottenheimer and the organization will be hoping the injury isn’t serious.
