Incredible stat shows Liverpool’s Premier League finish without Mohamed Salah

Liverpool secured a superb 2024/25 Premier League title as Arne Slot capped off an eye-catching first season in charge at Anfield.

The Dutch coach has excelled on Merseyside as he moulded the team into a refreshed version of Jurgen Klopp’s 2023/24 side.

A greater focus on control in midfield and the flexibility to give talisman Mohamed Salah more scope to dismantle opponents paid off in style.

Salah enjoyed his best season since 2017/18 with 29 EPL goals scored and 34 overall as Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz ended the campaign on 18 and 17 respectively.

Slot’s willingness to allow Salah to focus almost solely on remaining high up the pitch yielded a revival in the 32-year-old’s form – which had shown signs of waning in Klopp’s final months.

Rumours of friction between the pair only deepened the sense of Salah coming past his peak, but the last 12 months have dismissed that theory, with the club happy to extend his expiring contract on until 2027.

Liverpool without Mo Salah in 2024/25

Liverpool scored 86 goals in the 2024/25 season from 38 games – 14 more than Manchester City – with 39.5% of their league goals netted by Salah.

As part of data gathering from Casino.co.uk, Salah’s Golden Boot win was the bedrock of Liverpool’s title win, as without his goals they would have dropped to fourth place in the table.

Salah’s goals were worth an estimated 16 points to Liverpool in 2024/25 – and without them Arsenal would have claimed the title – based on data of how each EPL side would have ended the campaign without their respective top league scorer.

Liverpool’s win stats would have dropped from 25 to 20 with a whopping 10 defeats compared to just four in reality.

Using the same measurements – if City were without Erling Haaland – they would have finished sixth and missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification with Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth jumping above them into the top five.
