The Dodgers and their array of megastars are officially going global.
The defending World Series champions will open the 2025 MLB season in the Tokyo Series on March 18 against the Cubs. But first, they’ll continue to ramp up for the regular season with a highly anticipated exhibition game against Nippon Professional Baseball’s Yomiuri Giants in Tokyo on Saturday morning.
Los Angeles fans, be sure to set your alarm clocks: First pitch is set for 3 a.m. PT.
The exhibition marks the start of an electric homecoming for the Dodgers trio of Japanese-born stars: Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki. Ohtani, the two-way phenom and reigning National League MVP, is larger than life. Yamamoto and Sasaki, a pair of prized pitchers, aren’t far behind.
It’s certainly safe to say that the Tokyo Dome — capacity of 55,000 — will be mobbed with Dodger-loving fanatics for Saturday’s game.
