How Real Madrid could help Man City in signing Florian Wirtz this summer

Real Madrid have reportedly been keeping track of several top midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. One of those names includes Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, who is also wanted by Manchester City and many other prominent clubs.

Wirtz has turned heads with his impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen this season, making him a top prospect for the upcoming transfer window. His display for Germany has also attracted attention.

Wirtz has started in 31 out of the 39 appearances for Leverkusen in the ongoing campaign while registering 15 goals and 13 assists. He is currently sidelined with an inner ligament injury and has missed five games so far.

The Bayer Leverkusen academy graduate is reportedly valued at about £100 million, and his contract there is valid until the summer of 2027.

While Man City has been reported to be pursuing Wirtz for a while now, Real Madrid’s involvement in the transfer battle makes it harder for Pep Guardiola & Co.

However, reports have recently surfaced that suggest Los Blancos might pave the way for City to acquire Wirtz’s signature this summer. The Spanish club are also reportedly considering Bernardo Silva and Man United’s Bruno Fernandes, along with the German midfielder.

How can Real Madrid’s interest in Bernardo Silva help Man City with signing Florian Wirtz

Real Madrid, who are known for their efficiency in the transfer windows, have been rumored to sign a midfielder in the summer. However, the La Liga giants are not expected to make only one signing in that role.

Los Blancos are now rumored to be interested in bringing Bernardo Silva to Santiago Bernabeu, according to Real Madrid Confidential. The Portuguese star’s contract at the Etihad is set to expire in the summer of 2026.

Real Madrid’s reported interest in Silva can make City’s chase for Wirtz easier as Los Blancos will no longer be a part of that transfer.

It also frees up space in Guardiola’s squad while also making a small profit from the Spanish club by selling the 30-year-old.

Silva, who is a key part of Guardiola’s squad, has been candid about how he would like to continue with Man City in the future. However, his potential departure can help in signing Wirtz.

Kevin De Bruyne’s exit from Man City by the end of this season also frees up space on the wage bill as well as the starting line-up for Wirtz.
