Paris Saint-Germain are no longer haunted by European failure after a spectacular night in Munich.
PSG’s long wait for a first-ever UEFA Champions League title was ended in incredible style at the Allianz Arena as Luis Enrique’s side crushed Inter Milan 5-0 to ends decades filled with near-misses, collapses and superstar exits.
For stats geeks, this result also marked the most dominant win in a final since the competition was rebranded in 1992.
And just like that, the ghosts of past failures – Barcelona’s remontada in 2017, Bayern Munich heartbreak in the 2020 final, and repeated knockout collapses – were all laid to rest.
With no Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr or Kylian Mbappe in their starting lineup, PSG dropped their most complete European performance ever as Achraf Hakimi opened the floodgates in the 12th minute.
Desire Doue cracked home a double either side of half-time as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and teenager Senny Mayulu sealed a rampant 5-0 win.

Neymar and Mbappe react from afar as former club makes history
Watching on from opposite sides of the world, two former kings of Paris watched a new kingdom rise – without them.
Neymar Jr., now playing for Santos in Brazil, kept it short and sweet with an Instagram post that simply said “Parabéns @psg” on his story; which translates as “Congratulations PSG” in Portuguese – acknowledging the club success where he dazzled for six seasons without winning a UCL trophy.

Kylian Mbappe, now in scoring goals for fun at Real Madrid, took a more heartfelt approach. “Le grand jour est enfin arrivé, La victoire et avec la manière de tout un club, Félicitations” @psg, he posted in French, meaning – “The big day has finally arrived, Victory and with the style of an entire club, Congratulations @psg”.
