It’s a rivalry like no other. The USWNT will meet Canada on the pitch in Washington, DC this summer for the Continential Clasico. All eyes will be on Audi Field on July 2.
The 67th meeting between the rivals, the Americans lead 53-4-9. The upcoming match is the first meeting since 2024’s SheBelieves Cup Final when the U.S. won on penalties after a 2-2 result. It was the second straight game with those results as every soccer fan remembers the wet and rainy Gold Cup Final in San Diego.
This time, though, Canada won’t be going down without a fight. It will be the first matchup for both U.S. coach Emma Hayes as well as Canada’s Casey Stoney.
These are evenly matched, evenly knowledgable squads with players who have competed alongside each other throughout their amateur and professionals careers. While there’s certainly going to be young and rising stars donning the stars and stripes and the maple leaf, that doesn’t mean the game is going to be any less heated.
