How many trophies have Chelsea won? Complete list of leagues, cups, European titles in Blues history

As one of the biggest clubs not only in England but indeed all of Europe, Premier League giants Chelsea have a storied history that is full of titles and triumphs.

After winning the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League final, Chelsea became the first club to win all three of the currently active UEFA club competitions, having previously won the Champions League and Europa League.

The Cup Winners’ Cup was once included in that trio, but after that competition’s end in 1999, there were only two major European club tournaments. After the introduction of the Conference League in 2021, the three clubs who have won (Roma, West Ham, and Olympiacos) all have sparse history with winning European finals.

Thus, Chelsea find themselves as the most prestigious side to lift the relatively new trophy.

The Sporting News details all of Chelsea’s past triumphs, and how successful they’ve been over the course of their club’s history, with many of their trophies coming due to the financial boon of Roman Abramovich.

How many trophies have Chelsea won?

In total, Chelsea have won 35 major trophies in their long and prestigious history.

That includes six titles in England’s top division (we’re not counting two Second Division championships as part of this list), and two UEFA Champions Leagues.

What was the last trophy Chelsea won?

Chelsea last won a trophy in May 2025 when they defeated Real Betis 4-1 to win the UEFA Conference League.

Prior to that, their last honour came in February 2022, when they lifted the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.

They entered that tournament as winners of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League. Thomas Tuchel led the Blues to victory over Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, with Kai Havertz scoring the winner in the 42nd minute en route to a 1-0 win in Porto. They also won the UEFA Super Cup that year, beating Villarreal on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

In fact, Chelsea’s most recent successes have all come on the European stage, as they also won the Europa League in the 2018/19 season.

The last domestic trophy Chelsea lifted came back in 2017/18 when they won the FA Cup a year after their most recent Premier League title. Since 2018, they have lost three FA Cup and three EFL Cup finals.

Premier League (First Division)

  • Titles: 6
  • Years won: 1954/55, 2004/05, 2005/06, 2009/10, 2014/15, 2016/17

While Chelsea are considered one of the biggest clubs in the world, many would be surprised to see they only have six top-flight domestic titles in their entire history.

They won just one before the Premier League was established, while the other five of their league titles came during Roman Abramovich’s ownership. The Blues have not won a league title since 2017 when Antonio Conte was in charge, with a high fluctuation in their league finish during the time since.

FA Cup

  • Titles: 8
  • Years won: 1969/70, 1996/97, 1999/00, 2006/07, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2011/12, 2017/18

Chelsea have had more success in the FA Cup than any other singular competition, winning eight times, which is tied for third-most of any English club behind only Arsenal and Manchester United.

They lifted half those FA Cup trophies during a six-year span in the 2000s and 2010s, while each of their last five FA Cup titles have all come via a one-goal margin in the finals. They have, however, suffered defeat in each of their last final appearances, beaten by Arsenal, Leicester City, and Liverpool in consecutive finals from 2020-2022.

EFL Cup/League Cup

  • Titles: 5
  • Years won: 1964/65, 1997/98, 2004/05, 2006/07, 2014/15

Chelsea’s five League Cup titles put them tied for fourth all-time amongst English clubs, behind only Liverpool, Man City, and Man United.

The Blues last won an EFL Cup title in 2015, but like in the FA Cup, they have suffered defeat in each of their last three finals, most recently to Liverpool in 2022 and 2024. Of their five all-time finals defeats in this competition, they’ve suffered four since 2008.

FA Community Shield (Charity Shield)

  • Titles: 4
  • Years won: 1955, 2000, 2005, 2009

To qualify for participation in the Community Shield, a club must win either the Premier League title or the FA Cup title, as the match pits the two defending champions against one another to begin the following season (if the same team won both the league and FA Cup, the league runners-up take part).

While Chelsea have 14 titles between those two competitions, resulting in 13 Community Shield appearances (they won the double in 2009/10), they have only won this trophy four times. The Blues have lost nine times in the Community Shield, including each of their last five appearances since last winning in 2009.

Luckily for the Blues, this match is largely considered a showcase and not usually regarded as a major domestic trophy.

English Second Division

  • Titles: 2
  • Years won: 1983/84, 1988/89

Before Chelsea became an established Premier League powerhouse, they were bouncing back and forth between the top flight and second tier (now known as the Championship) throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Chelsea suffered relegation from the top flight (then known as the First Division) in 1975, 1978, and 1988. Of course, in order to be relegated from a particular league three times, a club must have been promoted back to that league on each occasion, and Chelsea won two second-tier league titles in the course of getting back to the top flight.

Their last, coming in 1988/89, was the last time Chelsea did not compete in the English top flight — they have been a consistent member of the Premier League since its inception in 1992 and for the three seasons prior to that.

UEFA Champions League (European Cup)

  • Titles: 2
  • Years won: 2011/12, 2020/21

Prior to Abramovich’s ownership, Chelsea fans wouldn’t have dreamed of lifting Europe’s biggest prize, but as the club gained stature and financial might, they have occasionally challenged for such a lofty crown.

Chelsea won their first European title in 2012, beating Bayern Munich in Munich on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They overcame the rare occasion where a participating club also hosted the event, as Roberto Di Matteo led the side to victory thanks in part to Didier Drogba’s 88th-minute equalizer.

They would again lift the trophy nine years later as Havertz downed Man City 1-0 in Portugal. En route to this triumph, they eliminated both Madrid clubs as well as Porto in the knockout stage, while Olivier Giroud led the side in goals with six.

UEFA Europa League (UEFA Cup)

  • Titles: 2
  • Years won: 2012/13, 2018/19

Winning back-to-back European titles is not unheard of, but doing so in two separate competitions is quite rare. That was the case for Chelsea in 2012/13, as despite having won the Champions League the previous campaign, they flopped in the following iteration, crashing out in the group stage and dropping down to the Europa League.

No matter, as Rafa Benitez led them to the title in the Europa League, winning UEFA’s second-tier competition for the first time.

They would do so again in 2018/19, trouncing Arsenal 4-1 in the final in Azerbaijan. Led by Maurizio Sarri that year, Chelsea beat the likes of Olympiacos, Dynamo Kyiv, and Eintracht Frankfurt en route to the final, where an Eden Hazard brace would be his final act as a Chelsea player before moving to Real Madrid.

UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup

  • Titles: 2
  • Years won: 1970/71, 1997/98

The now-defunct Cup Winners’ Cup is still revered by older European football fans as a coveted competition, and Chelsea supporters will no doubt think on their two triumphs fondly.

The competition, which was officially shuttered in 1999, was made up of clubs that qualified by winning their domestic cup competitions. It was considered for decades as a foil to the Champions League, which was largely made up of only domestic-league winners at the time.

Chelsea’s first-ever FA Cup title in 1970 qualified them for the following season’s Cup Winners’ Cup, where they downed Man City in the semifinals and Real Madrid in the final. Their subsequent FA Cup trophy in 1997 saw them again into the field, and after being handed a much less perilous path than their previous jaunt, a Gianfranco Zola goal was enough to beat Stuttgart 1-0 in the 1998 final in Stockholm.

UEFA Super Cup

  • Titles: 2
  • Years won: 1998, 2021

Much like the Community Shield, the UEFA Super Cup is an early-season showcase match that pits the previous season’s Champions League winner against the defending Europa League champion.

That wasn’t always the case, as the competition used to feature the Champions League winners against the Cup Winners’ Cup holders. That was how Chelsea won their first Super Cup title, qualifying as the 1998 champions against Champions League winners Real Madrid — a rematch of their first Cup Winners’ Cup final. The Blues claimed the crown, beating Madrid this time by a 1-0 score thanks to a late goal from Gus Poyet.

They would find their way back in 2021 as Champions League winners, winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Villarreal in Belfast.

Chelsea have also lost this competition three times, including in 2012 when they were defending Champions League winners, beaten by Europa League winners Atletico Madrid 4-1.

FIFA Club World Cup

  • Titles: 1
  • Years won: 2021

The FIFA Club World Cup will get an overhaul in 2025, but previously the competition was tilted heavily in favour of European clubs.

For decades, the Club World Cup comprised a seven-team bracket that consisted of the six most recent continental title winners as well as one nominated club from the host nation. As you can imagine, this tended to favour the defending European champions, who were often the most powerful and financially dominant club in the field.

Thus, by way of their two Champions League crowns, Chelsea have participated in the Club World Cup twice. Infamously, the Blues remain the last European side to fail at the Club World Cup, stunned in the 2012 final by Brazilian club Corinthians via a 1-0 score. They would exorcise those demons nine years later, topping Palmeiras 2-1, although it required extra time as fans feared an embarrassing reprise.

UEFA Conference League

Chelsea had secured Champions League qualification through their Premier League finish in 2024/25, so winning the Conference League final was almost a bonus.

They duly achieved it, defeating Real Betis 4-1 in Poland despite being 1-0 down at halftime. Cole Palmer played a key role as the Blues fought back to claim a deserved victory.

They had always been expected to win the tournament as by far the most financially powerful club in the draw, but doing so saw them make history as the first club to win all three of the Conference League, Europa League and Champions League, so the achievement was not to be sniffed at.
