The Chicago White Sox are having another tough season, but fans have been excited about the emergence of several young players making an impact.
Fans are describing this year’s White Sox as “fun-bad,” meaning the team is fun to watch despite not having a good record.
One player who hasn’t contributed to this status is former All-Star centerfielder Luis Robert Jr.
Robert, 27, is one of the most talented players in Major League Baseball when he is right, but he hasn’t been right since 2023.
The Gold Glover has eight home runs and 32 RBI while slashing just .185/.270/.313 in 73 games this season.
Chicago has been rumored to be shopping Robert since last year, but the team opted to hold onto him. It may be even harder to trade him now due to his offensive struggles, but he still provides value as a defender and a baserunner.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel ranked the top 50 trade candidates and their potential landing spots. Robert ranked 19th on the list.
“Robert has been extremely unlucky with ball-in-play results this season, so that could turn around at any point. He remains a strong defender and baserunner,” wrote Passan and McDaniel. “He has a pair of $20 million-a-year club options that the acquiring team will be hesitant to exercise absent a turnaround.”
Robert’s rumored landing spots are the San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Guardians, New York Mets and San Francisco Giants.
According to ESPN, Robert has a 90% chance to be moved. But if the five-tool player doesn’t start hitting, the White Sox may have no choice but to keep him or sell him for a mediocre prospect package.
