How impactful has Carlos Correa been since his return to Houston?

As the time was running out in the 2025 MLB trade deadline, the Houston Astros made a move sure to make the fans happy, bringing former shortstop Carlos Correa back to Space City to cover third base duties.

And it’s actually worked out for the franchise, helping the team stay competitive in addition to this likely being a feel-good trade for the team.

But how does Correa compare to the rest of the trade deadline acquisitions across the league?

Brian Murphy Ranked Correa the 3rd-Best Deadline Acquisition in 2025

According to MLB.com analyst Brian Murphy, Carlos Correa was the third-best acquisition of the 2025 trade deadline, a month after the deals went down.

“Correa rejoining the Astros was the Deadline’s biggest shocker,” Murphy wrote. “Less surprising is how well he is playing in the city where he began his career. Correa picked up 30 hits through the first 22 games of this reunion and owns a .320/.389/.443 slash line in 108 plate appearances. His 137 wRC+ is a 40-point leap from what he accomplished with the Twins, and his 0.9 FanGraphs WAR in just 25 games with the Astros nearly matches his 1.0 fWAR in 93 games with Minnesota this season.”

The Astros still hold a narrow lead in the American League West with just a month left in the regular season, with the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers still hanging tight in the division.
