How big is Josh Allen? Height, weight, 40 time and more to know about Bills QB’s measurables

The Bills drafted Josh Allen with the No. 7 overall pick in 2018 because all of the tools were there. Allen had ridiculous raw arm talent and imposing size for his position. Betting on tools doesn’t always work, but for the Bills, the risk was well worth the reward.

Allen’s arm and the development he’s made from an accuracy standpoint have turned him into one of the NFL’s biggest stars. His size, however, is what makes him the complete package.

Like the Eagles and Jalen Hurts, the Bills have a distinct advantage in short-yardage situations because Allen can impose his size on opposing defenses and push forward for the necessary yard or two.

Here’s a look at Allen’s height, weight and 40 time, as well as where he ranks among the NFL’s tallest quarterbacks.

Josh Allen height

Allen is 6-5, making him one of the NFL’s tallest active quarterbacks. Brock Osweiler, who stood at 6-7 during his career, would be the first to say height doesn’t necessarily correlate to success, but it can help a quarterback see the field well.

Josh Allen weight

Allen is listed at 237 pounds. All things considered, Allen’s weight isn’t shocking by any means. Patrick Mahomes weighs in at 225 pounds despite being three inches shorter than Allen, while Justin Herbert is 236 pounds at an inch taller than Allen. Still, Allen is clearly well built and tends to use his body like a wrecking ball to get those extra yards — while still remaining athletic enough to run for longer gains when needed.

Josh Allen 40 time

Allen ran a 4.75 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2018, faster than a majority of quarterbacks but certainly not at the level of Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields or even Jalen Hurts. Allen can move, but his his imposing size and ability to bully his way through defenders is just as impactful when he has the ball in his hands.

Tallest NFL quarterbacks

Allen is one of the NFL’s tallest starting quarterbacks, trailing only Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence (6-6) and the Chargers’ Justin Herbert (6-6).

Two rookie quarterbacks are close to matching Allen’s height, as Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye are both 6-4, while former Giants starter-turned-Vikings backup Daniel Jones is 6-5.

The vast majority of NFL quarterbacks come in under 6-5, making Lawrence, Herbert and Allen the exceptions at the moment.
