Starting the night behind the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers, Houston took a 2-0 lead against the Los Angeles Angels, but the bad news came from Cleveland.
Following back-to-back losses, the Guardians picked up the win, 3-2, with a walk-off in the ninth inning. The game ended in wild fashion, as CJ Kayfus was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Petey Halpin scored, and Cleveland beat Texas 3-2.

Now, the Tigers and Guardians will head into the final game of the season tied with 87 wins at the top of the American League Central. Boston has 88 wins, so there are all sorts of scenarios on what could happen here.
The Guardians own the tiebreaker over Detroit, so a Cleveland win gets them as the 3 seed and home field advantage in the first round, which starts on Tuesday. Detroit owns the tiebreaker over Boston, so there is a way for Cleveland and Detroit to not meet. The 5th seed would take on either the New York Yankees or Toronto Blue Jays, whichever does not win the American League East.
