The Charlotte Hornets will play better basketball teams than the Brooklyn Nets.
But as far as season openers go, the Hornets hardly could’ve done better.
They had one of the most well-rounded outings in NBA history en route to a 136-117 win.
The crazy stat: A whopping nine Hornets scored in double figures.
According to OptaStats, that’s an NBA all-time record for a season opener.

Brandon Miller led the way with 25 points.
LaMelo Ball put up 20 points, to go with eight assists.
Miles Bridges scored 18 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.
Collin Sexton had 15 points off the bench in just 17 minutes.
Moussa Diabate put up 13 points (with nine boards) off the bench.
Tre Mann had 12 points with six assists off the bench.
Kon Knueppel put up 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting in his NBA debut.
Ryan Kalkbrenner’s NBA debut ended with 10 points and 11 rebounds on 5-of-6 shooting.
And Tidjane Salaun came off the bench to score 10 points in 17 minutes.

Not bad.
The only player who played to not get double figures was Sion James, who scored two points.
The Hornets will hope this is a sign of great things to come.
