Hawks change directions, get younger, with this aggressive potential trade idea

The Atlanta Hawks are entering the offseason with some major decisions to make. After another disappointing season where the team missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year, Hawks trade rumors have been picking up. One player that could be the center of many potential Hawks trade proposals is Trae Young.

Young’s offensive ability is undoubtedly incredible. He has averaged 25.3 points and 9.8 assists in a Hawks jersey. However, his defensive limitations have continued to haunt the Hawks.

Now, Hawks news and rumors are swirling around the possibility of trading Young to reshape the roster and pivot towards a different identity.

One interesting Hawks trade proposal, created by Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report, has Atlanta sending Young to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Jalen Suggs, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, and a top-10 protected 2027 first-round pick.

From Atlanta’s standpoint, this Hawks trade idea is interesting for a few different reasons.

The Hawks would be getting Suggs, a defensive stud who could help change the team’s identity on that end of the floor. They also would be picking up a couple of interesting young players who could blossom with an increased role in Atlanta.

Trading away the face of the franchise is never easy. However, it may be time for Atlanta to switch things up. Young players like Jalen Johnson and Zaccharie Risacher have brought hope of a new future in Atlanta, and what they’ve been doing for the last few seasons clearly isn’t working.

Bringing in Suggs and a collection of young talent could give Atlanta a fresh start and the flexibility to build a more well-rounded roster. As the offseason continues, keep an eye on Hawks rumors and news. If Atlanta is ready to turn the page, a blockbuster deal with Orlando could be the first step toward a new chapter for the Hawks.
