Paris Saint-Germain have reached the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and take on Premier League side Chelsea at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday.
The Ligue 1 giants are hoping to secure a historic title in the first of the newly formed Club World Cup, expanded to 32 teams and extended to once every four years.
While this competition has existed since 2000, when FIFA first envisioned a knockout tournament for clubs from around the world, PSG are newcomers to the tournament in its 21st edition.
The Sporting News details PSG’s brief history at the Club World Cup, having only recently summited the European landscape to reach the global competition.

Have PSG ever won the Club World Cup
No, PSG have never won the FIFA Club World Cup.
This is because prior to the 2025 edition, European clubs were required to win the UEFA Champions League to qualify for the Club World Cup.
Thus, the 2025 Club World Cup marks the first time PSG have competed in the tournament.
For the expanded 32-team edition, UEFA was granted 12 spots. Three of these were taken by Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City for winning the UEFA Champions in the 2020/21 to 2023/24 qualification window.
The other places were given to the remaining top-ranked teams under UEFA’s co-efficient system, with no more than two countries per country. PSG were the only French representatives at the 2025 competition.
PSG only won their first-ever Champions League title in 2024/25, qualifying them for the 2029 tournament.
Thus, the 2025 Club World Cup marks the first-ever time PSG have competed in the tournament.
PSG performance in the FIFA Club World Cup all-time
With 2025 being PSG’s first-ever appearance in the Club World Cup, they have a nearly spotless record in the competition.
The Ligue 1 side have been beaten just once en route to the final, falling to Botafogo 1-0 in the group stage. They still managed to top Group B, breaking a three-way tie with Botafogo and Atletico Madrid.
