Tommy Fleetwood again underlined the strength in his game in 2025 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The world No. 9 went into the final round at TPC Southwind in Shelby County, Tennessee leading a field that included world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun, and a resurgent Justin Rose.
Despite taking a two-shot lead into the final three holes, a par-bogey-par finish allowed Spaun and Rose to overtake him and enter a gripping playoff. Rose emerged triumphant, becoming the oldest European to win on the PGA Tour in the modern era at the age of 45.
For Fleetwood, who led on the final hole at the Travelers Championship in June only to lose out to Keegan Bradley, it was the latest cruel blow in a career marked by near-misses.

Has Tommy Fleetwood won a PGA Tour event?
Fleetwood has yet to win a title on the PGA Tour. He has finished in the top three on 12 occasions but has never managed to claim victory.
He does, however, have seven wins on the European Tour, most recently at the 2024 Dubai Invitational, when he finished a stroke clear of Thriston Lawrence and Rory McIlroy.
Fleetwood is also an Olympic silver medallist from the 2024 Games in Paris, where he finished one shot behind Scottie Scheffler.

That was the 29th time he had ended a PGA Tour tournament in the top five without actually winning one, which is at least 11 more than any other player over the past 40 years.

Fleetwood is due to play at the BMW Championship in Maryland, which gets underway on Thursday, August 14.
After that, the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings will qualify for the Tour Championship at Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club. That tournament is played over August 21-24.
Fleetwood is ranked eighth in those standings as of August 11.
