Has Ludvig Aberg won a golf major? Career timeline, wins and record for Swedish golfer on PGA Tour

Plenty of familiar faces have won major championships in recent years, but the next breakthrough winner could be Ludvig Aberg.

Aberg burst onto the scene with some terrific major performances in 2024, including his major debut at the Masters, never appearing intimidated and hanging right alongside some of the biggest names in golf.

Even on some tough courses, including Pinehurst, Aberg remained steady and looks like he is posed to be a perennial contenders in major championships for years to come.

Here’s a look at Aberg’s history in major championships and his overall record on the PGA Tour.

Has Ludvig Aberg won a major?

Aberg hasn’t won a major in his brief professional career. In fact, he only made his major debut in 2024, when he emerged as a contender at both the Masters and U.S. Open.

With only a handful of majors under his belt, it’s no surprise Aberg still hasn’t climbed the mountaintop — but he has come close. He was a serious contender in his first career major, hovering right near the top of the leaderboard at the Masters before finishing second behind Scottie Scheffler.

Since that point, Aberg has endured some ups and downs. He failed to make the cut in three of his first six major appearances while recording a pair of top-10 finishes. Consistency often comes with time, but Aberg has shown enough flashes to indicate a major win might be inevitable.

Year Masters PGA Championship U.S. Open Open Championship
2024 2nd Cut T-12 Cut
2025 7th Cut

Aberg’s history in majors is a brief one, but he already has two top-10 Masters finishes under his belt. After finishing as the runner-up in his major debut at Augusta National, Aberg contended at the 2024 U.S. Open and earned another top-10 finish in his second appearance at the Masters.

In other events, it’s been more of a struggle for Aberg. He missed the cut in each of his first two PGA Championship appearances as well as his Open Championship debut in between strong showings at the Masters and U.S. Open.

Ludvig Aberg PGA Tour wins

Aberg only turned professional in 2023, after winning all three national player of the year awards in his senior season at Texas Tech, but he does have two PGA Tour wins under his belt.

The Swedish-born golfer won the RSM Classic in November 2023, finishing 29-under par to win by four strokes. He also reached the playoff at the Sanderson Farms Championship but didn’t prevail out of a five-player field. Aberg finished eighth at The Players Championship earlier in 2024.

In February 2025, Aberg earned his second PGA Tour victory when he finished 12-under par at the Genesis Invitational to win by one stroke.

While those wins are meaningful, a major championship could catapult Aberg into an entirely different tier of golfers as he develops into a household name.
