Bayern Munich haven’t had much joy in the summer transfer window as they have struggled to land a host of targets in recent weeks.
The reigning Bundesliga champions have made only three additions to date, despite losing 11 players, leaving Vincent Kompany with only 24 first team names.
The Bavarians have been forced to promote academy graduates like Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike and Jonah Kusi-Asare to fill their squad options.
While the youngsters are extremely talented, it remains to be seen if they manage to step up to the level, once the campaign starts in full flow.
Bayern Munich opened their campaign with a 2-1 weekend win over Stuttgart in the DFL Supercup with goals from Harry Kane and new signing Luis Diaz.
Following the game, Kane grabbed the headlines with his plea for more transfers to the Bayern Munich bosses. “It’s probably one of the smallest squads I’ve ever played in,” Kane stated.

“There’s still time until the transfer window closes and decisions could be made by Max, Christoph, and the coach.
“We have some young players who have done very well in preseason. We’re a bit thin, but that’s not in the players’ control.”
Bayern Munich linked with Chelsea star as Kingsley Coman’s replacement
The Bavarians desperately need more players as they are yet to replace the attacking duo of Thomas Muller and Kingsley Coman.
Muller moved to MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps after 25 years in Munich and Coman has decided to join Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
Following Coman’s departure, Bayern Munich are looking to sign Christopher Nkunku, who is unwanted at Chelsea and eager to return to the Bundesliga.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with the Frenchman on personal terms. However, Chelsea are looking for a permanent sale, whereas Kompany prefers a loan.
The Blues reportedly value Nkunku at €50m ($58.3m) but Bayern Munich will not that amount for the 27-year-old.
Despite Kane’s plea, Bayern Munich are expected to start the new season with a limited squad amid a risk of injuries derailing their plans.
