‘Happy’ Mohamed Salah dodges Liverpool future question after leading Spurs demolition

Mohamed Salah remains tight-lipped over his Liverpool future as he prepares to move into the final six months of his contract at Anfield.

The Egyptian international remains locked in talks with the club over an extension alongside fellow contract expirees Trent Alexander-Arnold and captain Virgil van Dijk.

The trio’s futures have been the main talking point for Reds fans this season despite their incredible start to life under Arne Slot.

A spot in the UEFA Champions League last 16 has been virtually secured, after six wins from six games, and they have opened up a four- point lead at the top of the Premier League rankings.

Salah scored twice, as Liverpool cruised to a chaotic 6-3 weekend win over Tottenham, to bring his goal tally up to 15 in the EPL so far in 2024/25 and become the outright fourth leading scorer in the club’s history.

The Egyptian was in relaxed mood in his post-match interview, as he looked to focus on the present, rather than what may happen with his contract on Merseyside.

“It’s great to achieve another Liverpool goal record – and do it at such a big club, but the most important thing is we won the game. Wherever I’m going to end my career, I’m happy about it,” as per reports from BBC Sport.

“[Do I have an update on my future?] No, I don’t.”

Salah curt answer over his future means he will stretch on into January without an announcement, with all three players eligible to start free transfer talks with non English clubs, from the start of 2025.

Up next for Salah and Liverpool is an EPL clash with Leicester City on December 26 before ending 2024 with a trip to West Ham United three days later.
