Hansi Flick addresses transfer rumors about Barcelona stars

Barcelona started their 2025/26 La Liga season with a 3-0 win against Mallorca in their opening fixture last week.

The Catalans have made some additions to their squad this summer, along with some departures, and reports continue to link a few more of their players to parting ways with the Spanish giants soon.

Several reports suggested that Barcelona are open to offers for Marc Casado, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, and Fermin Lopez, especially as the club require to make savings to comply with La Liga’s financial rules.

However, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has made it clear that he ‘needs’ every existing player in his squad with a ‘tough season’ ahead of them.

What did Barcelona boss Hansi Flick say?

While addressing the press ahead of Barca’s upcoming league clash, Flick mentioned that he has spoken to Casado and believes that the 21-year-old is not looking for a move away from the club.

“I spoke with him, of course, but I don’t think that he wants to go out of the club. I also want to have him here because it will be a tough season. We need every player we have now. Of course, it’s not easy for the players [who don’t start every week], but it’s football. They play for Barcelona. We try to achieve a lot in this season and this is why we need every player,” as per ESPN.

The German manager was also asked to share some insight into Lopez’s future at Barcelona, to which he replied,

“I don’t want to lose any players now because I think it will be a tough season. We need this quality from Fermín. He’s doing really good last season, but also when we start here in this new season as well. I’m happy with him, with all the players, and I want to keep everyone here because with these options we have now, it’s very good.”

With Inigo Martínez’s departure to join the Saudi Pro League, Barcelona have fewer options in their backline, making the potential departures of Araujo and Christensen less likely in this transfer window.

Flick & Co. are set to face Levante in their next La Liga match on August 23 at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
