Guide to Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ Season 2: Everything to know about 2025 episodes featuring Joe Burrow, Jared Goff

Summer can be a quiet time in the NFL, but soon, Netflix will provide some excitement for the upcoming 2025 season.

The streaming service will release its second season of “Quarterback” on Tuesday, providing insight into three select quarterbacks’ journeys in the 2024 campaign. Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins will take the spotlight, each coming off varying levels of success last season.

“Quarterback,” which is partially produced by Peyton Manning and Omaha Productions, will once again dive into each star passer’s path on and off the field, including mic’d-up moments and behind-the-scenes access into their 2024 season. In last year’s edition of the show, Netflix focused on a different position group with “Receiver” — but now, the subject has returned to the game’s most critical position.

What is Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ series?

In its second season following quarterbacks and third overall, Netflix’s NFL-focused series followed three players — this year being Burrow, Goff and Cousins — throughout the 2024 season, providing access from practices, huddles and their lives away from football which will be released to the public.

The first season of “Quarterback” in 2023 featured Cousins, Patrick Mahomes and Marcus Mariota, while last year’s “Receiver” edition featured Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Now, fans will get insight into how Burrow, Goff and Cousins experienced the 2024 season, which was a much different journey for each. Burrow’s Bengals got off to a rough 4-8 start despite having one of the best offenses in the league, fought to get back over .500 late in the season, but ultimately fell short of the playoffs.

Goff experienced the most team success of the three signal callers, leading the Lions to a dominant 15-2 record in the regular season and the NFC North title. However, his story ended in disappointment as well, with Detroit falling 45-31 to Washington in its first playoff matchup.

Finally, Cousins’ point of view in “Quarterback” will likely show the more difficult aspects of playing the position in the NFL. In his first season with the Falcons, coming off a torn Achilles, Cousins began 2024 as the starter but threw 16 interceptions and was eventually benched for rookie Michael Penix Jr.

How many episodes is ‘Quarterback’ on Netflix?

“Quarterback” will span eight episodes, with all eight being released on July 8.

Similar to Season 1 of the Netflix show and last year’s “Receiver” edition, fans will not have to wait week-by-week for new episodes, as they all come out at once.

Which players are featured in ‘Quarterback’ in 2025?

The 2025 series will follow three NFL quarterbacks: Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins. All three entered 2024 as high-profile and highly-compensated starting passers but didn’t ultimately reach their goal of a deep playoff run.

Burrow is the biggest draw of the series as an annual MVP candidate who’s still 28 years old and seeking a return to the Super Bowl stage. Additionally, behind-the-scenes looks at Cincinnati’s 2024 late-season turnaround and attempt to make the AFC playoff bracket behind Burrow’s career year (4,918 passing yards, 43 touchdowns) should make for entertainment.

However, there are plenty of intriguing storylines with the other two passers in “Quarterback” as well. Goff also had arguably the best season of his NFL career (4,629 passing yards, 37 touchdowns) and made Detroit a Super Bowl threat, but the Lions then collapsed in the NFC Divisional Round. Goff’s story in “Quarterback” will have a lot of highs in the regular season, then a surprising low in the postseason.

Finally, Cousins’ difficulties throughout the 2024 season will be a change of pace. He was last featured on “Quarterback” Season 1 as a member of the Vikings, but last offseason, he signed a lucrative deal with Atlanta while coming off a torn Achilles. Not only will Cousins’ story in “Quarterback” Season 2 follow his opening days returning to the field as the Falcons’ starter, but also his struggles with turnovers before getting benched late in the season during a playoff push.

From Burrow’s individual dominance but a struggling team, to Cousins’ benching, “Quarterback” will have varying experiences of what it was like for an NFL passer in 2024.
