Despite the rocky rollercoaster that has been their 2025 season, the Cleveland Guardians are still very much in contention in the AL Wild Card race, despite hovering around the .500 mark at this point in the season.
This situation puts them in an interesting position as the trade deadline is about to hit, almost like this odd hybrid between buying and selling.
For those optimistic about the Guardians’ playoff shot, they believe that Cleveland will look to add some firepower to their lineup and fully prepare themselves for the home stretch towards the postseason.
And according to Cade Cracas of Away Back Gone, one acquisition that could positively benefit those chances would be that of Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins.
An All-Star and Silver Slugger in 2021, Mullins and the Orioles are not on the playoff radar at this point in time, sitting dead last in the American League East with a 47-58 record, a lengthy 15.5 games behind the leading Toronto Blue Jays.
Mullins would join All-Star Steven Kwan in the outfield, putting two elite gloves out deep for Cleveland.
The Orioles outfielder is currently batting .219 with 14 home runs and 45 RBI.
