The Cleveland Guardians hold the 27th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft and will have an opportunity to continue improving their farm system.
On paper, the Guardians could be better as a farm system, and it’s important that they hit this draft out of the park. For a team that’s spent limited money in free agency, homegrown talent is how the Guardians are going to be the team they’re looking to be.
Just Baseball recently put together a mock draft, and had the Guardians selecting a college stud with the 27th pick. They had the Guardians taking Caden Bodine, a catcher out of Coastal Carolina.
“Bodine is a finished product, and he’s an unorthodox catcher with a plus hit tool and minimal pop, but he’s a legitimate catcher with insane receiving skills.
“He’s ended the season on a high note and likely pushes himself into the backend of the first, and Cleveland tends to pick these kinds of profiles. It’s not a surefire thing, but Bodine could rush through the minors,” they wrote.
Bodine is widely regarded as a top two college catcher in the country and will have a chance to be the first one selected, depending on how things fall between him and Luke Stevenson.

A New Jersey native, the 21-year-old is coming off a season where he hit .318 with just five home runs for the Chanticleers.
His power tool isn’t much, but the Guardians are big on bat-to-ball skills, which Bodine has.
Just Baseball believes he might rush through the minors, and with his defensive abilities, factoring in with his offensive skills, he should have a chance to be selected somewhat high.
