At the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, the Cleveland Guardians are sending two players: Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan. However, the Guardians’ All-Star representation changed Wednesday afternoon.
The Guardians announced that Jose Ramirez will not be participating in the All-Star Game this year. He will look to”focus on recovery and preparation for the second half of the season.”

Ramirez was elected the AL All-Star starting third baseman, and now, he won’t head to Atlanta for the activities as he looks to prepare for the second half of the season. He still earns the All-Star nod, which is his seventh, but he won’t attend the game this season.
In 2025, Ramirez more than earned his starting spot on the All-Star team. So far through 87 games this season, Ramirez has a .299 batting average with a .364 on-base percentage and a .503 slugging percentage. His OPS, .867, is strong once again.

He has 98 hits on the season, with 48 runs scored, 17 doubles, one triple, 16 home runs, 44 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, 32 walks, and 41 strikeouts. The Guardians’ third baseman has been one of the best hitters in baseball for the last decade, and is in the middle of another season that should boost his Hall of Fame candidacy at the end of his career.
Through his 13th season so far, Ramirez has 1,598 hits, 271 home runs, 267 stolen bases, and 54.9 career WAR. He’s a seven-time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger. Few batters can compare to his resume, and his production in year 13 hasn’t dropped off.
While he earned his seventh All-Star nod, his fifth in a row, Ramirez won’t be at the All-Star game this time. In his place, Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes earns his second All-Star nod and gives the Astros their fourth All-Star.
Now, with Ramirez deciding not to participate in the All-Star game, only Steven Kwan is heading to Atlanta. Kwan is now the only Guardians representative set to make his way down to Atlanta in the middle of July.
