Guardians jokingly thank Taylor Swift amid 2026 schedule release, engagement announcement

Major League Baseball, on Tuesday afternoon, officially released the 2026 schedule for all teams in baseball this season. But, it wasn’t the only major sports news dropped around the same time.

For the Cleveland Guardians, the schedule release revealed that the team begins with a seven-game road trip against the Seattle Mariners and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

But, instead of plainly announcing their schedule like most teams, the Guardians “thanked” Taylor Swift for announcing her engagement with Travis Kelce around the same time that MLB officially released their schedule.

Guardians “Thank” Taylor Swift Amid Schedule Release

The Guardians on Twitter/X shared their 2026 schedule release with the caption: “Thanks a lot, Taylor Swift. Now no one cares that next year’s schedule is out.”

Cleveland has a tough beginning to their schedule in 2026, but even their schedule release was rougher than usual, as the sports world was entranced by the announcement from Swift that she and Kelce were engaged.

Swift’s announcement on Instagram came less than 20 minutes before the Guardians made their schedule announcement. Over the next hour after her post on Instagram went viral, it garnered 8.8 million likes and drew the attention of the sports and entertainment worlds.

The post announcing their engagement was accompanied by the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Swift’s relationship with Kelce has been at the center of attention for a few years now, and it’s also not the only connection Swift has had to Major League Baseball recently.

When she announced her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” the St. Louis Cardinals won their game on the same day, extending the Cardinals’ undefeated streak whenever Swift announced her next album.

This time, Swift took a lot of attention off the MLB schedule release, and the Guardians joked with Swift for making “no one care” about the Guardians’ 2026 schedule release.
