Emmanuel Clase got a chance at redemption that not many would’ve been expecting.
You see, in game one of the Cleveland Guardians’ doubleheader on Saturday in Kansas City, the star closer came in with a one-run lead in the bottom of the 10th. But he gave up a two-run, walk-off homer to Jonathan India.
Usually, managers try to limit their relief pitchers to one game in a doubleheader.
But it’s a key time of year for Cleveland, and so when the Guardians took a 6-4 lead to the bottom of the ninth in game two, Stephen Vogt called on Clase again.
Redemption achieved.

Clase got three consecutive groundball outs to second baseman Brayan Rocchio, and he had a save on the same day he had a blown save and loss.
That can’t be all that common.
It might mean Clase is unavailable to pitch Sunday, but that’s a problem for Sunday.
On Saturday night, facing the immediate task of bouncing back, Clase did so, and it got the Guardians a crucial win.
