The Cleveland Guardians remain in the postseason hunt in 2025. Their bid for a second straight AL Central title has started to slip, but at 68-66, they sit just three games behind the Seattle Mariners for the final AL Wild Card spot.
The Detroit Tigers own the best record in the American League, making Cleveland’s chances of surpassing them in the division unlikely with only a month left in the regular season.
However, manager Stephen Vogt and Cleveland are going to do everything possible to stay in postseason contention.

Before the team looked to sweep the Seattle Mariners in their series finale on Sunday, the team announced the call-up of 24-year-old outfielder George Valera for what will be his season debut. Valera signed as an international free agent back in 2017. This was when the Cleveland baseball franchise was the Indians.
After playing seven years in the minor leagues, the Guardians believed that now would be the time for Valera to get his chance at the big leagues.
The outfielder has been battling injuries in 2025, resulting in him playing in just 44 games between the ACL Guardians and Triple-A Columbus. Valera has hitting statistics that include a .318 batting average, .388 on-base percentage, .550 slugging percentage, and a .821 OPS while hitting seven home runs and 24 RBI.
