Ja Morant and the Grizzlies are looking to have a bounce-back season after failing to make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
The Grizzlies already got bad news earlier this offseason when Jaren Jackson Jr. was required to undergo surgery, just after re-signing him to an extension. They almost got worse news on Wednesday because Morant was very close to suffering a serious injury.
Morant was at an event overseas where clips surfaced of him attempting some wild dunks. He was seen in one of the clips attempting a dunk over his dad, who was standing just inside the paint. Morant slipped just before taking off from the ground, awkwardly falling to the ground while bracing for impact.
Luckily, he got up just fine, but for a moment, the awkward fall raised some concerns.
Thankfully, Ja Morant is okay 😳

Morant is one of the best dunkers in the NBA, but he hasn’t been as prolific a dunker lately to avoid injuries. He’s missed a lot of games in recent years, playing nine games in 2023-24 and 50 games in the 2024-25 season.
Morant dealt with a shoulder injury two seasons ago, which kept him out for virtually the entire year, which is one reason he has been less explosive around the rim.
In the 2024-25 NBA season, Morant averaged 23.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 50 games.
